Clarifying the Confusion about Dietary Supplements (09CLAR02)

Description:
With so much hype in the media about what to take and what not to take it is easy to get confused. In this seminar we will look at some of the basic supplements that most people need, who should take them and why. We will learn what formulations, doses and combinations work best, when to take them and for how long to get the maximum benefit. We will also discuss appropriate supplements for maintaining optimal health and preventing typical health hazards through supplementation, as well as specific supplements for commonly encountered conditions.

Instructor: Karta Purkh Singh Khalsa, DN-C, RH, NCTMB, RC, is one of the today’s foremost natural healing experts. As one of a very few clinicians with over 35 years in the natural health and medicinal herb field, he has a wealth of experience teaching and using healing herbs, vitamins and mineral and medicinal foods in real life situations..

Khalsa is the author of over 1,300 published health articles and has written or edited 30 books on cooking, herbalism and health. He has presented over 150 times at national and state conferences, on such diverse topics as herbal medicine and therapeutic nutrition and is featured in several DVD continuing education courses.

Khalsa personally trained in herbalism and food therapy with Ayurvedic master Yogi Bhajan for 35 years. He is a state certified dietitian-nutritionist, and, as a registered herbalist, nationally credentialed to teach herbalism. He is on the Bastyr faculty in the botanical medicine department, and is a professor at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Khalsa is senior research scientist and principal herbal formulator for the Yogi Tea, the nation’s largest herbal tea company and is the founder of The Professional Herbalist Certificate Course, a two-year post- secondary curriculum that trains professional herbalists.
